Putting-out polluting traffic and the integration of railways in the new City Model for Santander[El Diario Montañés]

The new City Model, designed by LANDLAB and Paisaje Transversal, aims to improve the mobility of the city by decongesting traffic and integrating the railway space into the urban fabric.

The project proposes solutions to two of the most complex challenges facing the city nowadays. On the one hand, the project reflects the necessity of putting-out polluting traffic from city centre, guaranteeing a better air quality and prioritizing travel by bicycle or on foot.

On the other hand, the aim is to close the wound caused by railway's great infrastructure in the urban fabric, achieving the connection between the neighborhoods on both sides of the tracks through a new axis that combines open green spaces with economic activities.
