Workshop in Valparaíso: From the Ecliptic to the Informal, to the Sustainable
This workshop proposes to work with the complexity and relationships of the ecological, social, infrastructural, economic, and morphological aspects of the city of Valparaíso, the main port of Chile. Valparaiso has experienced the destruction and reconstruction of different urban areas, as a result of earthquakes, tsunamis, and the numerous fires that have plagued the hillsides of self-built homes, mainly made of wood.
As often happens after such catastrophes, communities are striving to recover their territories. In Valparaiso, it has only been 7 months since a huge fire impacted the city, which is now immersed in this process of reconversion.
The Workshop addresses new proposals for urban sustainability in relation to the low-income communities of this unique city that have been most affected by the fire.
