Reconnecting with nature
This week, the Green Axs and Squares project in Barcelona’s Eixample district, with Enric Granados Square as one of its main landmarks, was recognized with the New European Bauhaus Award in the Reconnecting with Nature category, for demonstrating that streets can be for people, not cars.
For the fifth consecutive year, this award recognizes outstanding projects and initiatives that combine sustainability, inclusion, and esthetics, demonstrating how people’s lives and communities can be enriched when culture and technology, innovation and design are brought together.
The green axs and plazas in the Ensanche have become an exemplary project, continuing to inspire and demonstrate that it is possible to reclaim the streets.
It’s an award that makes us especially happy and confirms that LANDLAB’s commitment to urban regeneration and naturalization should be the way forward. Although the greatest reward is seeing the new green corridors and plazas filled with people sitting at tables and benches, children playing, and people strolling and enjoying a healthier, more welcoming urban environment.
