The strategic role of green spaces in public health, biodiversity and the construction of more liveable territories

The 24th APEVC Congress, held in Reus under the motto “The Power of Green”, focused on the strategic role of green spaces in public health, biodiversity conservation and the configuration of more liveable and resilient territories. Through keynote lectures, round tables and practical experiences, the congress explored how urban green spaces can become a genuine driver of positive change, improving quality of life, strengthening connections with nature and providing effective responses to current environmental and social challenges.

Within this framework, Miriam García, founding partner of LANDLAB, landscape laboratory, took part with a lecture presenting the Enric Granados Square project, developed within the framework of Barcelona’s Green Axes programme. Her contribution highlighted the potential of green public space as a key urban infrastructure for climate adaptation, the improvement of urban comfort and the recovery of the social and ecological dimension of the street.

APEVC (Associació de Professionals dels Espais Verds de Catalunya) is a non-profit organisation that brings together professionals from the gardening and landscape sectors, united by a shared commitment to improving the quality of green spaces in Catalonia and promoting an integrated vision of green infrastructure as a structuring element of the territory.
