The new Platja de Palma will have dunes and green axes

The study will define environmental connectors, landscape corridors, and civic axes in the Preliminary Project for the Regeneration of Platja de Palma. In the coming months, the coastal promenade for pedestrians will be identified; a subsequent scenic path that will border the rustic land, as well as a series of transverse roads to the coastline that will help create a network that cohesively integrates the entire project.
The proposal aims to restore the dune system on the first line of the coastline, as well as to enhance the wetlands of Ses Fontanelles and the renaturalization of the public open spaces in the area.
The LANDLAB project goes beyond mere improvement or requalification of the area and designs specific measures and actions for adaptation to climate change. For example, the restoration of the dune systems and the accommodation of the coastline after the demolition of Illeta dels Republicans will provide the beach with greater resilience against erosion caused by the effects of climate change.
Similarly, the project focuses on better water cycle management through the implementation of various SuDS systems that minimize the cost of drainage infrastructure while increasing the value of the landscape environment.
