The DEMO:POLIS – The Right to Public Space exhibition presents different options in which the public sphere shapes cities.

by | 8/04/16

Increasingly, citizens are demanding the right to be involved in decisions that affect public space. Following the relationship between the city and the landscape, the Academy focuses this time on public space and its generation through democratic processes. The anonymous and virtually public space of the internet and the streets or squares are both places that affect and interest citizens and their freedom of choice. The exhibition is curated by Wilfried Wang, architect and member of the Akademie der Künste.

By incorporating plans and models, photographs and films, DEMO:POLIS illustrates how architects, planners, artists, and the general public design and use public space. Examples of the scope of Bridge Park in New York, the Campo de Cebada in Madrid, our work on the Coastal Management Plan of Galicia, or Tempelhofer Feld in Berlin are part of this exhibition.
