The tragedy in Valencia opens the debate on how to adapt the territory to extreme events. Apart from not building in flood-prone areas, there is a whole catalog of infrastructures to gain space from rivers and retain water.

Could the tragedy that Valencia is experiencing have been avoided? And from now on, what needs to be done to prevent future floods in a context of increasingly frequent extreme events?
