With its work on the Coastal Management Plan of the Coast of Galicia, it aims to establish the critical starting point for the various public policies related to the territory, by promoting knowledge of the coastal territorial system, its landscapes and dynamics.

The ultimate goal is to achieve a more efficient and equitable use of the coastal territory and an improvement in its conditions for its inhabitants and visitors. These main objectives can be summarized in two:

- The establishment of a frame of reference for urban planning in coastal areas, based on a series of standards and criteria.

- Protection, connectivity, and enhancement of the coastline.
