Finalist of the NEB Prizes 2025

Reconnecting with nature
The Superilles Barcelona project, with Enric Granados Square as one of its main references, has been selected as a finalist for the European Commission's New European Bauhaus (NEB) 2025 awards. The proposal competes in the category "Reconnecting with Nature" and aims to be part of the group of 22 initiatives that stand out for their contribution to a more sustainable, inclusive, and beautiful Europe.
The transformation of the Eixample neighborhood, initiated in 2023, prioritized green spaces and plazas as areas for community living, reducing pollution, improving universal accessibility, and promoting social cohesion. The "Superblocks" model reorganizes mobility and frees the streets from through traffic, giving rise to green axes and more livable environments. To date, 4 axes and 4 squares have been created, with a positive impact on urban well-being.
One of the highlights of the project has been its co-creation process, with over 1,500 participants and more than 20 participatory actions, integrating professionals, neighbors, and local associations in the decision-making process.
The Barcelona project has already piqued the interest of cities like Paris, London, Vienna, and Milan, establishing itself as an international example of comprehensive urban regeneration.
He is also the only Spanish finalist in this edition of the NEB awards.
