Miriam García's contribution to the El Independiente article on global warming and its impacts on Spanish coasts and beaches, such as "floods, more intense and frequent storms, saltwater intrusion [in aquifers], erosion, rising sea temperatures and acidification, as well as loss of biodiversity (...) By the year 2050, the average sea level will continue to rise, causing gradual flooding on coasts around the world, especially sedimentary and deltaic ones, which are more vulnerable to erosion." To this permanent flooding, the height of the waves must be added in cases of severe storms that are expected to become increasingly intense, frequent, and subjected to strong changes in their direction.
