Single family house in Sierrapando

A young family with two small kids, having at its disposal a parcel in the outskirts of Torrelavega with extraordinary views on the surrounding woods and hills, asked us to elaborate a design project for their house and farm for special dog breeds. This double dimension of the project induced us to work at two different levels. The first one takes advantage of the natural slope of the terrain and reserves the best views and orientations for the family. The second one takes advantage of a lateral curve towards the railway tracks for the dog farm precincts.

Nevertheless, this first disposition, necessary for guaranteeing the health standards of the house and farm, which requires a full time care of the dogs, obliged us to establish a necessary link between the house and the farm through the kitchen and auxiliary service rooms.
The family, being young, facilitated a closer approach which informed us on their particular way of living. No eccentricities were found apart from the natural and specific characteristics that each family has. A notable aspect was the importance of social life manifest in the attention granted to their visitors, thus an apartment for guests was designed.

Anyway, the affinity we had with the family helped us to explore a linear sequence of rooms under one same rooftop, where spaces related family life.
